Cannabis is Legal in New Jersey

New Jersey Just legalized Cannabis! After months (since November) of reviewing the bill they finally settled on a few things.

• The laws signed Monday to allow the possession and use of marijuana by anyone over 21 years old within the state of New Jersey, who can have up to 6 ounces of weed on them without facing any penalty.

• New Jersey also decided that growing cannabis, as well as the distribution of cannabis without a license, is illegal.

• Only 37 Licenses will be given out for the next two years. The Governor of New Jersey signed a third piece of legislation into law, A5342. This law imposes that police give written warnings to minors who are caught with cannabis.

Here at Potluckcrew, we feel like Legalization is a good thing as long as lobbyist and groups like Norml and cities equity programs help get people out of jail and keep the government on track with enforcing that Black people are not disproportionately criminalized.
